A Vision Confirmed!
A VISION CONFIRMED!
I am a parent with college age children now, but when I was in my early 20's, I had a very unusual thing happen.
My friend Nancy called me one day and asked if I wanted to come over, with my then boyfriend, for a couple of beers and snacks with her and her husband Jim. I had known Jim and Nancy, and Jim's father, who lived with them, for a long time because they were neighbors, and I had been at their home, more times than I could ever count, over the years. I think almost every time I went over there, Jim's father would be sitting in a rocking chair in the living room, laughing away. He loved to laugh! On this day, however, I knew that Jim's father had passed away two weeks earlier.
So, when we got to their house, my boyfriend and I went in and sat on a couch in the living room, and Jim was sitting in the rocking chair to my left, but facing us. I said something that Jim found funny, and he was sitting there laughing and rocking.
And then, for one second, I could swear that his father was sitting in the rocking chair laughing. It was as if he changed right in front of my eyes, but I didn't see the change! I can only explain it as though, when you walk into a dark roon and you see a shape, and then you turn the light on, and its not what you thought it was. I just didn't think anything else about it, because I didn't have an explanation for it, but I could still see it in my mind's eye.
The next day my boyfriend called me and said, "You know, for one moment there, last night, I could have sworn Jim's father was sitting in that rocker instead of Jim." And that sealed the deal for me. It did happen and someone else saw it, too!
I never told Jim about it, because he might have thought I was crazy, but looking back, I wish I had. It might have made him happy to know that his dad was actually still there with him and still laughing.
I will never, ever forget that night! I can still see it as if it was yesterday!
